MONTEREY BAY, CA - In what marine biologists are calling "the most extraordinary discovery in ocean research history," a bottlenose dolphin was captured on video successfully operating an iPhone 15 Pro underwater, apparently taking selfies and browsing social media.
Dr. Sarah Martinez, lead marine biologist at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, witnessed the unprecedented event during a routine research dive. "We couldn't believe our eyes," Martinez said. "The dolphin not only figured out how to activate the touch screen underwater but seemed to understand the camera function."
The iPhone, which had been accidentally dropped by a tourist boat passenger earlier in the day, was discovered by the dolphin approximately 30 feet underwater. Remarkably, the device appeared to be functioning normally despite the marine environment.
